Ukraine reports dozens of AI-assisted drone systems in service
A Ukrainian defense official said the country was using dozens of domestically developed AI-assisted systems for drone navigation and targeting.
Reuters reported on October 31, 2024 that Ukraine was using dozens of domestically developed AI-assisted drone systems. The systems were intended to help drones reach targets when electronic warfare disrupted communications.
This is a useful operational milestone, but it should not be read as the first Ukrainian use of AI in drones. Public approvals and operational disclosures are different events.
