xAI introduced Grok as an early beta assistant with access to current information through X.

xAI announced Grok after roughly two months of training. Its pitch mixed real-time knowledge from X with a deliberately less formal personality.

The integration with X mattered more than the jokes. A model sitting directly on top of a live social network had a different information loop, along with a different set of accuracy and moderation problems.
